i just donated my hair with my school and it was an experience of a life time. If you’re thinking about donating and arent sure if you’re ready to say goodbye to your precious hair, then just think one thing. your hair will grow back and you are giving the wonderful gift of a wig to someone who can no longer have any of their own.

Since I am a cancer survivor of 5 years this Friday, I have been growing my gray hair for 2 years to offer to a woman battling cancer. I don’t understand why Pantene does not provide wigs for gray haired women. Is there any avenue I can pursue as a symbol of gratitude for my recovery and a chance to give back? Thank you.

Hi Polly,
Gray hair, as well as some chemically-treated or permanently-colored hair, does not absorb dye at the same rate as other types of hair. It is much harder to color and, once colored, fades more quickly. We do not want to encourage those with gray hair to donate as this hair may break due to the rigorous wig-making process. We do encourage those who cannot donate, to help others by throwing cutting events and spreading the word.
