Hilary Swank was honored with the 2008 Courage Award at Saks Fifth Avenue’s “Unforgettable Evening” because of her continuous efforts to help women fighting cancer. Her recent hair donation to Pantene Beautiful Lengths was highlighted at the star-studded event, which took place in Beverly Hills last week. This annual event benefits the Entertainment Industry’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund and awards one individual who has done outstanding work for the fight against cancer.

For every Life Wish and Community Wish made, $1 will be donated on behalf of the wish-maker to Pantene Beautiful Lengths! The next winner will be selected in February by the Pantene Beautiful Wishes panel of judges – noted lifestyle expert Jennifer Louden and Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) senior executive Cathy De Silva.

Your donated ponytails get sent to our partners at HairUWear. For a realistic-looking wig that has consistent color throughout, HairUWear processes and then dyes the donated ponytails blonde, brunette, or red. (It takes at least six ponytails to make one Pantene Beautiful Lengths wig.) Hair is then transformed into wigs of varying lengths, textures and colors. The finished wigs are sent to the American Cancer Society wig banks and distributed free of charge on a first come first serve basis to women undergoing cancer treatment. To date, we have created 2,000 wigs thanks to your generous donations.
