On Wednesday, September 8th, the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) gathered for the annual Pantene Beautiful Lengths cutting event held during the P&G NW Arkansas Championship, presented by Walmart.
Some 100 professional golfers, women and young ladies were among those who volunteered to donate at least 8 inches of their hair for the cause. Defending champion Jiyai Shin, the world’s No. 2-ranked player Cristie Kerr, Michelle Wie, Christina Kim and Anna Rawson attended to support Pantene Beautiful Lengths, volunteering to cut donors’ hair!
“It is such a good cause and so important for the people that go through cancer to have the feeling of real hair,” said Rawson. “It’s fun to get that many people together to cut some hair, have a laugh and do something for a good cause.”
P&G has been involved with the LPGA tournament since it arrived in Arkansas four years ago. In fact, it was only a year ago that pro-golfers Christina Kim, Paige Mackenzie, and Stacy Lewis donated their own hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths.
Jeff Schomburger, President of P&G’s Global Walmart team, stated that the LPGA Pantene Beautiful Lengths cutting event would raise approximately $250,000 for local charities.
Thank you to those who donated their hair at this event, and to all the professional golfers who lent their helping hands to support the cause!
